Galaxy S8 Plus Microsoft version

I'm being told that the only difference between the MSFT version and the retail version is software. The phones are sold only in stores so the store can install the software packages to make a "Microsoft Experience" on this phone. The phone itself is actually no different.
So my question is, would anyone know what they do to configure the phone so that I could do this myself with an existing S8 Plus?

AFAIK, the Microsoft reps install the Microsoft apps and set them as default where applicable. That's it. They don't do anything magical that you cannot do yourself.
