checking out Can You Run It? is a good idea.
generally most stuff'll work, just not the fancier games like Planetside 2 which can struggle.

First, expectations should be checked depending on its hardware. First impressions make it sound like its not a huge powerhouse. So don't throw Battlefield 4 on it, although if you posted more information about the computer like a model number would help.

I have a HP Envy laptop with i5 core and HD4400 graphics on a fast ssd drive. Tried BF4 using low video settings, poor game play. Removed BF4 from my laptop. Web based online games works fine.

Nice Steam games for my Yoga 2 13 (similar spec) include Chaos Reborn, Worms titles, Telltale Games such as Walking Dead, the Shadow Run series and of course Broforce.

Just adding onto what's been previously mentioned in this thread, you'll unlikely playing any of today's big triple-A titles, but sticking to less graphically intensive games and lower budget indie titles should be fine. Source-based games are great for that kind of hardware.
