Microsoft's fifth Gears of War iteration debuts the latest spin on franchise's iconic Horde mode, a defining cooperative player-versus-environment (PvE) experience, pitting armed squads against unforgiving waves of foes. While embracing the chaos fundamental to Horde's identity, Gears 5 brings a deeper character-driven system, supporting formerly untapped strategies.
The faces of Horde are its new "heroes," attributing bespoke abilities to the Gears 5 cast. Each hero embraces personal abilities and skills via customizable loadouts in accordance with your playstyle. The game also packs a strong character roster at launch, while alluding to more with future updates.
