Saw this posted over at Neowin. It does involve tweaking the registry so please remember to export your original settings before making any changes. I found it pretty easy to setup and thus far haven't noticed any problems on my Surface Go 2.

  1. Install KB4568831 (you can opt into it via Windows Update).
  2. Open up Notepad.
  3. Paste the following text:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FeatureManagement\Overrides\0\2093230218]
    "EnabledState"=dword:00000002
    "EnabledStateOptions"=dword:00000000
  4. Save the file as 'Start Menu.reg'.
  5. Run the file.
  6. Reboot

Quick easy steps. thanks for the guide. :wink:

Adding on, for those worried about registry tweaks being an insider i can strongly suggest them to enroll in the Beta Channel as the current build is quite stable. being on 19042.423 on my primary machine I haven't faced any major bugs. :cool:

I went the easy route too. Just got back into the Insider program, Beta Channel. It also applies in tablet mode. Might not be a big deal, but I much prefer it, and the transparency .
