god this place now looks depressing to visit compared to last year

Hmmm. I don't think it is. It's a good source for info and help with various things of Microsoft. Why do you think it may be going downhill?

I dunno there is clearly ALOT of moaning going on here
Isn't that just normal? I mean, the users of this website got more and more and now this site is the biggest one of Mobile Nations.
More people, more complaints about everything! ;)

I thought this was the second smallest website. But it's CERTAINLY the second most active after Android central and most likely the most diverse

Tends to happen when people can't properly set expectations and everyone is running unreleased software.

Kinda feels like it's growing more and more every day to me! Lots of new sections in the forums.. and sub-sections... I know the 1020 photography thread stays busy (the 920 photo thread too!)

That, and there's always new articles on the front page during the week.. I think Daniel and the guys do a great job keeping things fresh here.

:0 Really? I thought I read that somewhere.. However, yes it is very diverse and I also think we have the most ambitious community! :)

SO true. Everybody is complaining because things don't work perfectly. That's why it is called beta. Some people really don't understand the purpose of this..

People are more likely to post when they have a problem or complaint. It makes sense. They are looking for a solution. In my opinion part of a forum is to help others solve their problem. Or discuss complaints. And hopefully find a solution or answer.

I think It's more like they keep Moaning stuff that are completely irrelevant that bugs me or something that is simply not true

Until there are threads of people claiming that the NSA is behind Microsoft's troubles and of people recording themselves arguing with Verizon employees about why they don't sell many WP, I think its safe to we'd have to go really downhill to become Crackberry.

I agree that there's a lot of moaning going on, but I think a lot of it has to so with the fact that people here thought that the tech media bias against Microsoft (and its hard to argue that there isn't one) would stop "once people saw how cool WP8.1 is" but since the Verges and CNETs of the world still sprout their nonsense, people are getting frustrated. I guess the thinking is similar to Crackberry, but its definitely less dire.

I personally think that 40% of complaints will disappear once Microsoft fixes Xbox music.

I agree. MS needs the Xbox Music app to be a PROPER WP8.1 App not an app from WP8

The more crap we hear about what sweet strategies Ms has....the more WP customer will complain! We keep hearing how Ms keeps spreading its legs for everyone! And what does Ms get? Nothing! 5% market share in us! That's what they got for us! Crap dev support or dropped support you choose I mean what could those on imore or android central be complaining about? Definitely not the phones or apps or features......they have them all....we don't and wont! Now you see why we complain. You know what happened to the girl in my town who kept spreading her legs for everyone?.....it did not end well for her;

I think we are going through a traumatic period. There are a number of different factions on here. The Windows Mobile old guard, the old skool Nokia fans who believe they were betrayed by Elop, the Windows Phone boys & girls (some who have been on board pre NODO), and the newcomers who want us to help them out. The platform is poised to break out, we could ride the wave, but we fill the forums with accusations of betrayal for our own reasons. I love Xbox enabled games with achievements but it gets my goat when every new non Xbox enabled game announcement is greeted with the same comment. If everybody has this attitude I'm surprised anyone bothers releasing WP games at all. You **** and moan about the App Gap but if doesn't have a Metro UI you're not happy. It actually makes me sad to read some of the crap on the forums. I love WP and want it to succeed. I feel that we need to give constructive feedback, not accusations. PS TL:DR

It was all the "moaning" that got Microsoft off their lazy butts to start working on fixing the crap music app. Making our dissatisfaction known is the only way to get things fixed on WP as Microsoft is so focused on ios and android.

I agree. I think MS is finally listening to Xbox Music on WP8.1 owners. While in it's current state is 'meh' I think in time it'll be pretty good. better than having to wait for an OS update

I think another major problem is that this website is really a Microsoft fan site pretending to be a Windows Phone website. Most of the writers here are more interested in Microsoft as a whole, but some people on this website are Windows Phone first, Microsoft second. This leads to frustration among the members here of why some people support Microsoft doing things that push services over their devices.

Take the Nokia X for example. The WP first people were wondering how this could benefit Microsoft in any way, while the Microsoft first people were excited about more people using Microsoft's services.

Agreed. I can see this place becoming a WP, IOS and Android forum who uses MS services . But yea I think they should rename this website to what. Microsoft Central

I was going to disagree with you, but some days it feels like every news story relates to Xbox or Surface (when they're not trying to sell me a cheap case for one kind of Lumia or another)

Not depressing at all. Just in a news slump. With the purchase of Nokia and the announced WP 8.1, there just isn't any other news rolling out right now. It sounds like it may be the fall before we get a new wave of devices. That leaves the L930 and L630 as the only new phones, and that just is disappointing. All these new or returning OEMs, and nothing new coming out in the next couple months. What is left to get excited about? Surface 3 just isn't a driving device and XBOX Music updates and XBOX 1 news just doesn't apply to everyone.

Kinda leaves things a tad "blah". But when WP 8.1 devices start getting rumored and the fall season gets here, HOPEFULLY we will be past this dead period and HOPEFULLY there will not be another year like 2014 with this "blah" period.
