Good app for recording live music

I am looking for a good app to record live music. I have Voice Recorder and had tried some others as well. The problem is the quality. They work great for voice but for music, it sounds like the performers are down in a well. I play guitar and have jam sessions with my buddies. I like to record some of our music. I am afraid that the recordings might be limited by the hardware. Is there an app that would have better audio? Or, is there an external mic that might work?

Record a video. and see how it sounds, it may be the apps available do not take advantage of the hardware.

I'm in the same boat. I play in a lot of bands, and I like to record sessions, as well as have people video tape the band. It's the only reason I still have an iPhone. I use Free Recorder and it did a few acoustic practices just fine. Haven't had the opportunity to use it with an electric band yet.

Is that one you've tried already?

The one I use is just called Voice Recorder. I may try to record a video tonight and see how that sounds compared to the Voice Recorder.

I still have to use my iPhone for all production and recording I do...... I guess apps and compatibility is on the way for windows 8....... or @least my 920
