Help: I need advice on a Phone

My first iPhone was the 4S. Then I upgraded to the 6. Right now, I have 1 year left on my contract with the 6 on Verizon. Lately, I started to get bored of my iPhone. I am looking for something new in terms of UI and UX. I am a double major student in college and I need (in Apple's words) something that "Just Works." On the Android side of things I am open to anything that is between 5" and 5.5" - this looks to be the sweet spot for phones. Anything larger than 5.5" is entering tablet territory. But, with me being a Windows Insider and getting the Beta versions of Windows 10 (prior to its release - now running on the public release version) it looks solid and intriguing. And the screen size should be the same here (between 5" and 5.5"). The Windows 10 Mobile OS for phones looks to follow in the same footsteps as its bigger brother (desktop version). The problem with Windows, (compared to Google Play and the App Store) is that it doesn't have nearly as many apps as its competition. Are there any phones that you would highly/strongly recommend I look at (both Android and Windows OS based)? Or am I destined to be an iPhone user forever?

P.S. - Waiting to see what Microsoft does with the Lumia 950 and 950 XL.

If you mean Blackboard Learn in general? Then Yes. If you mean the Blackboard app for the mobile platform, then no.

Ok. The reason I asked is because there is no Blackboard Mobile Learn app for Windows Phone. There are Blackboard Mobile Learn apps for iOS/Android.

By local you mean stock apps? If so, I don't really care. Most of the apps that I use are 3rd party anyways. I am however concerned for apps that are for entertainment or to just kill time (i.e. mobile games).

Well buy a Lumia 640 and try it out for yourself.. It's around 80 $.. 5 inch screen..I mean just to taste the different OS as a test device.. WM 10 is not ready yet and there is no flagship at least for couple of months so keep your iPhone and test WM 10 on a cheap test device..
