Hi guys,

I'm a Nokia Lumia user and a Windows enthusiast. I'm a college student pursuing my degree on Electronics and Communication. Our college is holding a tech fest next week. As part of tech fest and it's promotion, some Android guys made an very basic looking simple android app which contains information on events held on the tech fest.

Obviously, since Windows Phone is a minority, they decided not to even try for Windows (though Microsoft is providing free ways to publish apps to store ) when they blowed over $65 to develop that simple android app and make it to Google's Play Store.

As a Windows enthusiast and one among the hundreds of Lumia owners in my college ( 5:1 ratio for android vs windows ), I couldn't just stare at this ignorance towards Windows. App gap is a huge problem faced by Windows Phone and I don't want my fellow college students to feel the app gap faced by Windows and have a bad impression on Windows. So I decided to take responsibility on developing app for Windows on the confidence from App Studio program.

I have already made app using App Studio in less than an hour and presented it to my collegues. They were impressed. Though I'm happy App Studio helped I'm not satisfied with the result at all. I want Windows to stand over the ugly looking android app they made and for this I need help from a Windows Phone developer to make the dream true.

This app is nothing more than a brochure / catalogue app which contains event details and call function to the person in charge of the event. I think an app of this kind shouldn't take more than an hour to make for those who have coded an app.

I have intermediate knowledge on C# and HTML which I think would help in making it on my own.....Any way if you could help me, I would be very thankful.

To conclude, my aim for making this app is to bring Windows Phone to limelight and not let my fellow Windows Phone user feel ignored for the lack of app.

Thanks, hoping for someone to help!

Dude,

drop the wireframe/sketch of the app UI and navigation details with what information you want to be in the application. Also put in the date when you want it.

Include the assets you have... if possible provide us with your App made with App Studio to have a look on it

Your college logo, color theme you prefer for the application and how you want the app to be from start screen to navigation. for instance, the home page of the app can have couple of square boxes which would list the main items (Events, ... [couple of category names]), when selecting events we can list all the events, clicking on events, we can provide the details on the events with venue and contact details with a call button

describe your app as much as possible

I have done that already. I love Microsoft for providing that opportunity to get developer account for free :)

Check out the android app in play store. They have designed it such that after splash screen, the main page contains two section: Main events and All events.

Main events section consist of 8 events which they provide info using a poster and a small description below the poster image as well as phone call function to the person in charge of the event.

All events section lists various engineering branches in our college which when clicked( tapped ) takes shows events conducted by those branch and presents info the same way as presented above.

Check out the android app and screenshot: h t tps ://play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=com.robokodz.karnak14&hl=en

Here is the source code file of the app generated by App Studio. It is incomplete since I need to add some more event details.
