Friends….Hi,

After the Insurance provider replaced my broken screen, phone was factory reset too.
Unfortunately “Here City Lens” which was working previously, now is not being installed from Store, error coming as “"This app is not available for your device." I click on the "Tap here for more info" and receive this message: Compass not available”

As far as I know L720 is equipped with compass, moreover City Lens worked as a charm before reset.

(I have not yet updated to Amber and searched the forum for this “Here City Lens” but to no avail)

Friends any solution, please??

Hi Pulserider,
Thanks for reply......I have checked the region settings, they are correct as "India".
Earlier the Here City was working with "India" Region settings however the same is not working (Today itself updated to Amber still same not working).

Any other work around???

rgds.

Thanks again.....
I changed the "Region" to United states, switched off and then "reset phone" through Settings >"About"....again chose "United States" as region.
Still "City lens" showing same problem..."not available".
"SysApp Pusher" tried to but still not working :(

I seriously hate these type of anomaly..... but helpless.

Still any other way?

I got the same problem, i sent my lumia720 for touchscreen replacement, and they flashed it with new firmware, and since that the compass sensor not detected.
They claimed that the new firmware turned off the Compass sensor.

Not sure how true is it. but it is absolutely unacceptable!

Yup.

This is unacceptable, I am trying to touch base through Nokia Support by mailing them(Official Site).
Got a revert from them, lets see how it goes from there......will keep you posted if any breakthrough.

One things is for sure, changing screen is rendering the compass undetectable, I guess even your "Livesight" may not be working in "Here Maps".

yep. the Livesight feature totally hidden from user.
I'm now try to re-flash the firmware using Nokia Software Updater For Retail.

Will post you update after that

No lucks... reflash firmware doesn't help. I think the magnetometer sensor is totally disconnected from the mainboard, will pay a visit to Nokia Care again:angry:

...try to download "here explore" and use this for the mean time, it also has same feature of the city lens, but I doubt that if the "livesight" will not work again probably your phone's compass are defective, better reach Nokia Care for support.

the compass/magnetometer sensor is totally not detectable when run a self test using Nokia Care Suite..

I guess both hooi5683 and nitiny8 of your compasses have been screwed in an attempt to fix the screen. Try contacting Nokia Customer Care

Thanks Gaurav......It seems that's the issue.....
But will that come under warranty??

Moreover the phone acts erratic and out of mind sometimes, like momentarily vibrating for 3-4 seconds, taking screen shot by itself and whilst typing entering space bar by itself.

rgds,

I think it should come under warranty. And you should not accept anything less than a replacement. Its unacceptable that a phone starts working erratically after it was (at least the screen) replaced. It only shows that the task wasn't carried out properly, resulting a faulty compass which was working previously.

I am just maintaining communique with Nokia guys through email....they are supposed to call me(as per the mail).

Will keep you posted on development.

just sent my phone for warranty... Customer Service suspect the mainboard is spoiled.

Friends,
As doubted the problem of City lens was related to Mother-board, all other erratic behaviour (self screen shot, touch lost for a while) too was due to this.
Luckily got that fixed through insurance claim, same way as I got my screen repaired....

I am happy again :)
