I used to be the proud owner of a Lumia 800! I've been on Android for a while but i'm considering switching back to Windows Phone and thought it would be wise to get 'clued up' again on the Windows Phone platform.

As i say i switched after Windows Phone 7 and haven't returned since but i've always genuinely loved the platform. I did have a Lumia 920 for about 2 months and i was tempted then but something told me to wait.

I wanted to wait until the platform garnered more app support, was aligned with Android and iOS features and of course for more powerful devices. I do genuinely feel Windows Phone 8.1 has brought enough to Windows Phone for me to genuinely consider switching back! is as you say

The Lumia 930 looks very tempting indeed. Quad core and 2GB of Ram. Is there any other device planned this year with higher specs?

Some say there is a phone code named McLaren which is meant to a successor to the Lumia 1020. I guess we shall have to wait and see.

Thank you Gedzum! It was actually a really nice device. I loved the shape of of it and the tapered edges. If a quad core, 2-3 GB Ram, Windows phone 8.1 variant came of it it'd buy it in a heartbeat! I would consider such a device as Microsoft's answer to the Nexus line!

Welcome Karl! 930 is indeed a really good device. The beauty of WP8.1 is it will run really smooth on 5xx, 6xx, 7xx, 8xx series devices too. So there are plenty of choices if you want to save your dough for the McLaren once it is launched

Yes I also loved the shape and the feel of the device in the hand. It was comfortable to hold and I could reach all areas of the screen easily. The only downsides for me were the screen size and ultimately, lack of real support for WP7. I'm interested in checking out the 930 as well, but I'll probably have to wait a while for the price to drop I'm still happy with the 920. If you decide to get the 930 I hope it serves you well

Call me boring but i opted for black I preferred the other colours that lumias were available in previously but not a fan of this particular shade of green and the orange wasn't my favourite either to be honest!
