Hey guys, I have had a hotmail account for over 5 years now.

4 days ago, I bought a Nokia Lumia and ever since I added my hotmail account to the phone, I've been receiving emails from hotmail talking about updating to outlook.

It says...

"Your Hotmail inbox will be automatically upgraded to Outlook.com soon, or you can quickly upgrade today by clicking the button above."

...is this happening with ALL hotmail users? Or only me (and others in my situation) because now I (we) have my (our) hotmail account linked with a WP8?

Any info helps -- thanks!

Hotmail and Outlook.com are the same thing. This is happening to all hotmail users. You can still keep your hotmail.com email, and you can even upgrade it to a .outlook.com.

If you do upgrade it, any email sent to your .hotmail.com email account you will still receive as it turns into an alias.

As above this is just timing,, its been optional to change for some time now but in the near future they are starting to forceably migrate hotmail to the outlook.com UI,, as an end user you will probably just notice the new UI (like it or loath it) the rest should stay the same unless you want a new email address.

The two are rather similar. It's mostly just a branding change so you have nothing to worry about. Not surprisingly, the Outlook.com name is a lot more popular than Hotmail and has managed to attract a bunch of new users without significant change.

Outlook is very nice much better than Hotmail format. You really won't notice and big difference just the layout and integration.
