How can I fix a problem with Windows 8/10 cd key?

problem with windows 8/10 cd key

I have a windows 8 pro Cd-Key which i updated to windows 10 on my old laptop. now, with a new one, that came with windows 10, can i use this CD-key on it? or will i have to reinstal windows to change it's cd-key?

i tried changing it on the settings, and it gives me error 0xc004f050

No, you can't. That CD-Key is for Windows 8 and cannot be used for Windows 10. Ethically, too, a particular licensed OS should be installed only on one machine.

If your new laptop came with Windows 10, shouldn't it be activated already? Check with your store - they shouldn't be releasing unlicensed versions of Windows 10.
