Phone calls using headset jack
I have been using the headset jack on various phones to connect to my car's aux input for listening to my music for the past 5 years. When I make or receive a phone call in the car, I use the car stereo speakers as my speakerphone. I recently got a Lumia 830 and I am having issues with this method.
Whenever a phone call is initiated or answered with the auxiliary cable connected to the headphones jack, I hear nothing but silence and the person on the other end says they cannot hear me either. However, if I answer the phone or initiate a call without the auxiliary cable attached, then plug it in after the call is connected, it functions as expected with the phone's microphone picking up my voice and the caller's voice playing through my car speakers.
I have not yet tested this with actualy headphones. I would assume a normal pair of headphones would exhibit the same behavior because of the plug design. I don't even know if I have access to a heaphones with in-line microphone, which I would assume would be what the headphone jack was designed to take.
I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this issue, or if something is faulty within my phone's headphone jack.
