Is it still possible to get Windows 10 on unsupported devices? The insider preview no longer seems to be an option...

P.S I'm sure there's already an answer to this somewhere on the forums but I searched for awhile and couldn't find anything.

Yeah, it's not possible the easy way. Your best bet is to hack the registry, but that's kind of risky.

Won't the AU that's coming out tomorrow and 8/16 fit the 925?

Peace. Alan

Nah, I doubt it. I think Microsoft shut out the 925 so doing that is the only thing that would hopefully work for them.

Anybody got a link for steps on how to "hack the registry" so one can try it on our old phones that aren't daily drivers?

The list of disqualified units "I" recall were just insufficient ram. ONE unit only had 512 megs of ram. Can you imagine Win 10 trying to run let alone install with 512 megs of ram. I don't know what your situation is, but I am clueless about the registry on Windows Phones. PCs is a whole different matter for me.

I'd like to load Win10m on my Treo so I can later complain and hate on the platform as its MS's fault.

This "hacking" of phones and running an OS that doesn't support the phone does nothing to help the platform. There are several cheap options for new phones that will run the OS with no problem. My advice is to get a new phone so the experience is that MS intended.

if you are on 10586.494 all you have to do is install interoptools v7 and edit phonemodel to 930 950 or something like that, check for updates and you will be on RS1 in no time

glance and manual brightness will no longer work, but you can fix glance with some more hackery

x20 phones are perfectly capable of running Redstone. So only because MS says "We don't care about older phones" we don't have to run and buy a new device to run their latest software

Sadly, the 925 I have is on 8.1...

Your 925 is, unfortunately a slightly less common device. So an easier way of going around finding the hacks is to go check directly in the the Lumia 925 forums, and the ones for the 920, 928 too. There are round about ways of getting on the WM10 bandwagon still. But the peril is your own. Sadly. :(

Is there a way for 630 too? I had W10 before on 630 and it worked like a charm, but after installing firmware it is again on 8.1 so it would be nice to have w10 again.

I'd recommend heading to the same forum as Ertonimus. There you shall find your salvation friend. :)

not for phones with only 512 MB RAM, sorry. There are people who claim that they did it though
