How can I run a program with Java software in Windows 10

I am trying to run a program with Java software yet it is not letting me. I have been reading that it has been an issue after the update.

Download the required Java: Windows 10 and Java

Note that Java is not the best technology from a security perspective. If a web based app you may still need to run Internet Explorer which can be found in the menu.
