That's strange. Try any or all of the following:

1. Activate Airplane Mode and then disable it after 5-10 seconds.

2. Restart your phone (Power off, then power on).

3. Perform a soft reset (press and hold volume down button and power button until your phone reboots).

4. Under your phone Settings > cellular+SIM, verify that "Data connection" is indeed turned off. You may also limit the "Highest connection speed" to either 2G and 3G and see if that "removes" the "4G" symbol that you're seeing.
