How can I use my Zune without Zune software?

Windows Central Question

I bought a Zune for $50 at a pawn shop and it already has some stuff on it but I wanted to customize it and put more music on it. I didn't know it needed software so I don't have it and I don't have a windows phone. Is there anything I can do or am I stuck?
