How did I get WP 8.1?

Bought a 928 for my wife off Ebay after her HTC 8X died (shocking). My son and I have 928's and love them. Daughter has an 822.

Surprisingly the phone came with Windows 8.1 already. OS Version is 8.10.12359.845.

Is this the Developer Preview? How can I tell, and is there anything to worry about with future updates to this phone? More importantly - how do WE get 8.1 like her??

(BTW - she LOVES Cortana, and won't let us play with her phone anymore! ;-)

She's actually missing an update or two, but yeah, she's on the developer preview. Look up how to get onto it, it's free.

Does the Dev Preview need updates to be installed manually? I just did an "update check" on her phone and it said it was up-to-date?

When the production release comes out, will her phone essentially "catch-up" and be standardized again?

I do want 8.1 but not at the expense of going permanently "rogue"...

There will be no issue. All further updates will be available on her phone.

Open the app, sign in and agree the terms
Check for updates and you are ready to go.
Note: You have to install 2 apps m updates before getting the 8.1

Do it on her phone and yours, so she can be caught up and you can get onto it.
