Windows Central Question

I don't want to just "disable" them, I want to REMOVE them completely.

These programs are all forced on the users, much like Internet Explorer was forced on people back in Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.

Microsoft lost that lawsuit... you would think they would learn from that.

Forcibly integrating Cortana and not allowing its removal is an OBVIOUS attempt not only to eliminate Siri and Hello Google, but a drastic invasion of privacy, as it continually reports your activities to Microsoft - whether you are using it or not.

For the first time in over 15 years, I am thinking about switching to Linux.

So, Microsoft my big brother, how do I completely REMOVE these programs?

Why would you bother to come here to say this? Nobody cares what you run on your computer. This ain't China. Format your hard drive and keep it moving.

So, Microsoft my big brother...

Just to be clear…

This is a fan based News and Discussion site. It is in no way run by Microsoft, Lumia or any developer.

Forcibly integrating Cortana and not allowing its removal is an OBVIOUS attempt not only to eliminate Siri and Hello Google...

What? How does having Cortana on your computer eliminate your use of a competing assistant on a separate device? You are free to choose.

...it continually reports your activities to Microsoft - whether you are using it or not...

You do realize that any system you are using is gathering data, yes? I mean iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, what have you will all collect telemetry. In the case of Siri or OK Google it is much the same as Cortana. That is how they function. How could a virtual assistant track your packages if they can't read the tracking numbers out of your email? ANY assistant. Not just Cortana.

If Cortana is deactivated it has no reason to collect data. There is nothing to collect. If I leave an empty box at the curb all anyone can collect from it is... emptiness.

Personally, I trust Microsoft waaaaay more with my data than I do Google who sells you 12 times before you are done clicking past their obnoxious advertising.. Apple? IDK, I tried them once a long time ago and would not give them much as they seem to want to hold your data hostage to keep you from leaving their ecosystem.

For something more in tune with your viewpoint try this: Your Guide To Windows 10 Privacy Settings

I would respectfully suggest reading less click bait and delving into more technical information on how modern cloud connected systems function and why data telemetry is virtually inescapable in today's world. Then examine how software companies treat your data and privacy.

The same way you remove Safari, Mail, Spotlight, Notes, Reminders, and iCloud from a Mac or iOS device. Try that and let me know how it works out for you.
