How do I lower the resolution on my laptop?

Hungry Shark Evolution is too slow on my Toshiba windows 8 laptop,I've an idea that if I lower the resolution the game may play faster.

Control Panel > Display

try to use a lower resolution of the same aspect ratio

or if it's a fancy game which I doubt, they have their own graphics settings.
