How do I repair dysfunctional apps?

Dead apps on my Surface Pro-4 - less than 6 months old!!
Calculator, Groove Music, Picture Viewer and the Microsoft Store app. (There are others.)
Also Sleep function needs a re-boot sometimes.
I also lost use of my NY Times crossword app, and my Kindle app forgets who I am when I power off.

Kindly share with us what OS version you are on - you can check in settings > system > about > OS build. It should be 10586.420

Additionally, have you checked for updates recently? There have been a lot of firmware updates that have come out

And check for updates for the apps to in store
