How do I stop my apps from automatically refreshing?

I would rather refresh my news and outlook app when I want to use it, rather than it refreshing automatically. How do I do this?

In outlook, tap the "..." at the bottom and then select "settings".

From there, tap on the "sync settings" and change the frequency to whatever you want.

There's also a setting in the MSN News app that let you update data only while on WiFi.

Or, if there is a single period that would like your apps to not refresh, you can put your phone into Battery Saver mode, which turns off automatic updates for apps.
