How do I unlock Surface RT?

Hi my surface, has suddenly locked I don't how..... now I don't know how to unlock it. I dont have a keyboard. Any ideas?...

You mean there's a password that magically appeared? (There's a virtual keyboard of course)

By 'my surface' do you mean 'my' as in it came from a friend of a friend my?

If it's password locked, when you tap the password field, it should bring up the virtual keyboard.
If it's frozen, you should be able to hold the power button for 10-15 seconds (I don't own this device, there may be another combination needed) to force it to reset/reboot.
