How does the phone call recording work on the 950?

I would like to know, from someone who has it, about the phone call recording on the 950.

Is this accomplished "within" the phone app itself? Or is there an external app that must be used? If an external app, what app is used for it?

You can assign an app that you want to use within the phone settings. The default one is just the Voice Recorder. Then, when you are on a call, there's an extra button on-screen for call recording.

I take it this is just available for phones with the supporting firmware and/or hardware. My 640 on 10586.11 does not have the ability to assign an app in settings except to assign an app for video calls.
