Hi all. So I picked up the Invoke on black Friday and so far I am liking it. One issue I have is with the Skype calling.

I am trying to call contacts from my outlook account and cortana can't find them. Any idea how we can add them? I tried to add them to Skype but I can't. These are my contacts mobile numbers. Any ideas? Calling works great if the contact is in Skype (even calling to their cell) but it appears it's more challenging if they are not registered with Skype.

I just set up my Invoke today, and I used Outlook for my Contact list and did not include Skype, and so far have had no problems calling non-Skype contacts.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "did not include Skype"? Skype needs to be setup as a connected service to make calls.

I set mine up to use my Outlook account for contacts too, but I still can't get it to call my contacts by name. I can call if I use the phone number, just not one of my contact names.

Yes, that is the exact problem that I'm having, I can't call a contact by name. The Invoke says that it "I can't find <<that name>> in your contacts. You may wanna upload names from your phone to the Cortana app". Every thing seems to be linked properly but the Invoke, as mentioned above, is only looking in Skype contacts (strictly for Skype users).
Also, how exactly do you "upload names from your phone to the Cortana app", as the Invoke suggests?

Just a thought.... Are you using an Android or iPhone? If so, do you have the Outlook email app installed on the phone that you used to set up the Invoke? You can go into the settings on that app and sync all of your contacts to the app. I set my Invoke up using my Android phone with the Outlook app installed and with contacts synced, and the Invoke found my contacts on my first call attempt. Hope that helps.

OK, I guess I know what the problem is. My Lumia 950xl's Cortana app does not have the option of syncing contacts, the windows 10 desktop Cortana app does not have it either. Can you please post a screenshot of how that option looks like in your Android phone?

Sure thing. I don't know if this is the solution, but it could be. To get to the page that I screenshot, I opened the Outlook app, tapped the settings gear, then tapped my main MS account. I don't have a Windows Phone anymore, so I don't remember how the app looks exactly. Don't know if it's navigated the same way or not.

I managed to grab a retired Android phone, set up Cortana and Outlook using my MS account. After finish syncing, my Invoke is still unable to recognize contact names.

Anyone find a solution to this? I picked up one yesterday and after doing the setup, it will call Skype contacts by saying the name and non-Skype contacts in Outlook if I say the number, but it can't find the Outlook contact if I say the name. I verified it's communicating with Outlook by adding an appointment to my calendar through it and then also by adding a couple through my phone and laptop. It found all 3 when I asked Cortana what's on my calendar for today. FWIW, it's not finding the sports calendars I enabled and confirmed display on all my other devices and on the website. I just talked to HK tech support and the second guy I talked to is supposed to follow up with the product team but I'm not holding my breath, especially after the first rep told me the speaker can't be used for Skype calls...

I now have it synced with their contacts in the people app. From the skype app I can see my contacts home and mobile apps and call them from the skype app on my PC. Using Cortana unfortunately she can't see the mobile or home numbers. Microsoft please fix this.
