There are a couple of threads about dual external monitors but most of the solutions suggested don't apply to my case so I feel justified in starting a new one...

Surface Pro 3 i7 256GB (Best Buy Blue type cover ;)
Surface 3 docking station on order
Two Dell 2007FP monitors, DVI input, 1600X1200 resolution

I'm replacing my desktop system with the Surface and in docking mode I want to use only my two external monitors and not use the Surface display.

There was a Microsoft guy at BB who made the same suggestion someone else reported: get two miniDP to DVI adapters and plug one into the miniDP on the dock and one into the miniDP on the Surface itself, then tell Windows to extend the desktop. I wonder if (1) that will prove to be a nuisance when docking and undocking (which I may do several times a day), and (2) if I can eliminate the Surface display that way.

For those reasons it seems preferable to have a single adapter miniDP to 2xDVI, but I haven't been able to find one that (1) isn't an actual dock in its own right, with USB and Ethernet and what-all, and (2) claims to support my resolution. Many of them say something like "HD (2048x1152)" which I assume won't do.

So I'm hoping to find someone who has already done this, or at least is interested in seeing me solve it ;)

So what is this "daisy chaining" I hear so much about? Would that require the monitors to natively support display port?
