How to enable USB mass storage

Hi all..
Just got a Lumia 520..
When I connect it to my PC via USB it uses MTP mode and not mass storage..
I don't have any problem with MTP other than it's very freaking slow!
it takes 5 minutes to only open a folder ! (whether it's on the phone or my SD..)
what's the cause of this slowness ?
and is there is a way to enable mass storage mode rather than stupid MTP ?

Nope, or I would've done it long ago.

MTP can only do one thing at a time. (read, write...)
Best to access the SD directly, via an adapter.
