as title says... when the private developer forum was launched, the post announced that if we joined we could have a chance of having our app published on Windows Central forum (that really would be an honor :p) but how do I achieve this?

Thanks alot :)

That thread also said how this works, but I do not find the thread anymore. Anyways, it works like this: You write a thread in the "App Spotlight" forum, showcasing your app. The site admins regularly monitor that forum. If they think your app is worthy, they will consider featuring it on the main page, and will contact you on that.

So: First, write a great app, second: show off what you got in the App Spotlight forum, third: good luck! ;-)

I'm getting already some feedback from people here in my country, but I'd love to have some outiside of it. Do you know somewhere I can ask for feedback here or anywhere else?

One of the ways I have been able to be published on sites like Windows Central, DVLUP and Microsoft's blog is to try to present a professional image of yourself at all times. It is important to approach editors of sites like Windows Central in a very professional way i.e. they are not going to publish your app just because you want to. Windows Central needs to publish articles and so your job is to make it easy for them. Here are some things I would suggest you do:

1. Have a professional image - I use my app name and logo on all social media @sendtiment on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. I have a website with professional looking content and image SENDTIMENT

2. Identify the right people to contact - I have a list of all the editors of many app review sites. Windows Central is the holy grail of WP sites but it is not the only one. There are many other smaller ones with editors who are looking for people like you to feature and what I find is that if I get 10 small site to talk about me the bigger sites start to notice. Also target the right people. Daniel Rubino has thousands of followers and so sometimes he just may not see your tweet but the other writers on the site have less followers and they may be interested. Also you will find that some editors focus on different types of apps so if you have a game try to find the one who writes games articles the most.

3. Be nice to people - I regularly interact with people on twitter and try to help out with issues they have or comment on their articles etc. Politely ask editors how they would like to be contacted if you want to send them your app. Let them tell you what they prefer and follow their instructions.

3. Prepare a press release to announce your app - or at least when you email people make sure to include details about your app, app images and screenshots... basically anything to make it easy for the editor to write about your app. Most of my reviews include text that I supply them. Here is an example of an actual press release I sent out: http://1drv.ms/1ruJcyv

Google how to write a press release for an app and you will find examples.

This might seem like a lot of work but I think this is what helps for people to take you seriously.

Here are a couple of free or relatively cheap resources I use:

  • Image editing: www.canva.com (use this to create cool graphics, logos, icons etc.)
  • OneDrive
  • Website: squarespace.com or wix.com (although wix does not work well on WP)
  • DVLUP
  • ADDuplex - I use this to buy ads in other apps

Last but not least have a good product. No editor wants to write about a bad app or if they do it will not be a nice review.

Hopefully this will be helpful to you.
