How To Use OneDrive ?

I want to use onedrive as an online backup. I don’t want to sync files with my PC, just have files on the onedrive, independently. How do I do this ? When I drag & drop a file to my onedrive on a web browser, it also copies it to the users>me>onedrive directory on my PC. How do I stop this local mirroring and just use the onedrive as an online drive ?
