HP Elite X3 Lap Dock - Can't update firmware via HP Device Hub

I just picked up the HP Elite X3 Lap Dock from MS store for $199. I haven't been able to update the firmware. I connect my new Elite X3 that has latest updates applied with usb and HP Device Hub sends a notification that "Recommended version is available for HP Lap Dock".

Unfortunately when I go into HP Device Hub app there is no option to download a newer firmware version. It just shows current version of Lap Dock (T0053).

I really don't want to keep the lap dock if I can't upgrade the firmware. Anyone else have this issue or bought a Elite X3 phone and lap dock recently and was able to successfully update the lap dock firmware?

Even with a fast internet connection it took forever. Both the x3 and the Lap Dock must be connected to a power supply. That's all I remember about doing the update.

Got the exact same problem.
Running latest Elite X3 OS, Firmware and Device Hub Version (2.2.2.0)
Went to file explorer and found Device Hub logs are stored in the Pictures\OOBEGarage_Logs folder for some reason.

Anyway, I can see from there the Lapdock checks with HP servers and the servers respond that the device isn't registered. It then attempts to connect to their HP SUM Server (SUM= Smart Update Manager), however this website/server is no longer working, the certificate expired about 56 days ago.
Shortly after attempting to connect to this, there is a Runtime error and as a result there is no firmware update option.
I'm going to contact HP Support via phone and see if they can help (unlikely)

Found the solution:

Download the HP Lap Dock Wireless Settings on your x3 and update using the app from the app on the phone and not from the dock.
Open the app then connect the dock via connect from quick actions --> connect and update firmware and you can also choose a name for your dock.

Hope this helps.

Unable to download app from Microsoft Store. App says it's incompatible with my Elite x3.
Any ideas?

I called the HP support staff about this issue. I was directed to the "special teams" unit which handles low volume products like the X3 elite. The guy I spoke to was pretty knowledgeable about the device but said they hadn't been aware of the issue. He did a little digging around online (to forums like this one) and seemed to think it is a server issue somewhere (not sure if microsoft or HP). He put in a "quick help" ticket and he said to call back in a few weeks. Basically he's going to ask around in the office if HP officially shut down this service, or if it's a bug. I don't have a ton of hope as everything win10 moble is winding down. But if it's a simple fix, who knows... Will try and report back.

Did you ever hear back from HP? I was about to order an x3 to update the firmware on my lap dock however if the service is dead its not worth it.
