HTC Surround car connectivity

So I have used a Windows Zune 8GB in my car (Fiat 500) until now and it is actually one of the few cars that will allow me to sort through artists, albums, playlists, etc through simply connecting through USB and most cars I test ( I write about cars) refuse to work with anything but an iPod.

Has anyone had luck getting their vehicle to work with the HTC Surround, or any windows phone, through just USB? If so then what vehicle? I don't have one (the Surround) yet but have been looking at them and wanted to see if it will work.

I wouldn't recommend an HTC Surround. That device is almost 3 years old and hasn't been upgraded to Windows Phone 7.8 AFAIK (I believe it did get the 7.5 update). Windows Phone 7.x is on its way out, so you'd be better off getting a Windows Phone 8 device.
