Huawei Ascend W1 - Update 1 progress report

To anyone else out there who may be considering applying the 8.1 DP update and subsequent GDR1.
Go for it, I've been using this now for over a week with no problems at all apart for the known issue with the SD card.

Battery life extended to nearly 2 days now if used with wifi only for data access, works for me as office has wifi hotspot and have it at home.
Very impressed with how slick it is.
Using the SD for storage is now a godsend as only has 4GB of internal memory but thanks to this update (8.1/GDR1) I now have 1.8GB spare on handset whereas I only had about 500MB to play with before on WP8.

I bit the bullet as I knew that the Noks would get first bite at the cherry and us 'NonNoks' would probably be last to receive the 8.1 update.
So glad I did now.

That sounds contradictory, is your W1 recognizing the SD card with WP 8.1 installed?

The known SD card issue is still present in GDR1 but I think this is due to it requiring a firmware update from Huawei, not Microsoft.
If the phone is rebooted you have to connect mains charger to phone while on, remove back/battery, remove SD card and re-insert and it's then detected.
This fault first came to light with the SP1 DP install, other than this I've not come across any other issues and have only had to reboot my phone once in last 3 weeks simply because I didn't have a data lead to transfer some music off my phone, I used a MicroSD-USB adapter instead.
