I hate when mods arbitrarily close threads.

I was reading a thread today that had an active, if somewhat heated, exchange happening. Then all of a sudden, some moderator says "This thread is going nowhere....closed" and just abruptly stopped it. It wasn't a particularly abusive thread and I was kind of waiting to see what retorts were going to happen.

Another time, I started a thread that had a conversation going. It was about whether the public pleading that Nokia was doing to get Instagram was a good or bad thing. Apparently, the mod didn't READ the thread and just said "We have enough Instagram threads....closed".

I thought mods were there to help facilitate conversation, not thwart it. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see if if this gets "closed" before it gets started.

Mods are usually just like police, abusive with their power. I'm not singling out WPCentral here, this is mods on any forum all over the web, seem to have a power complex. Some do good, but are outnumbered and overshadowed by the trigger happy ones.

Must say, i have noticed that a lot myself. I've been on various forums over many years on the Net and i have to say, things seem rather heavy handed here at times.

Still, don't think they've reached the level of the guys on thetvdb.com, who are some of the most disliked Mods on the Net. Some do indeed get a little drunk with 'power'.
