I LOVE Windows 8 but HATE Xbox Music

I got a Windows 8 pc a week after it was released & love everything about it EXCEPT Xbox Music. After using Zune for so many years Xbox Music is a gigantic step backwards. The lack of control you have managing & editing you music in the software is very frustrating, especially since they using find the wrong info when they retrieve it themselves. I huge problem is that there are albums I physically own & have on my PC, but in the software they only give me the version you can stream on the service & doesn't even have my copy in the software. Some songs have multiple versions of one song but I only have the Xbox Music version in the software not version I own & prefer. And Zune had so much more features in it to see Xbox Music been stripped of them is another disappointment.

yep this has been well discussed. Until Xbox Music gets up to par with Zune I'll be ignoring it except for the free streaming music.

You can still use Zune on the desktop (or even better, MusicBee). Also, try Music Info in the Windows Store.

I've been struggling with the phone connector since day one. I think it's a pretty useless app and I personally HATE it. I've come across MusicBee (getmusicbee.com). It's a free music player/management program and it works beautifully. I can now sync everything to my Nokia 920, individual songs, playlists, and podcasts. I still use Zune for my WP7, but that's still a better alternative than what Microsoft is offering.

I'll continue to use MusicBee until Microsoft comes up with a viable music player/management program that does everything Zune currently does allows you to sync a WP7 AND WP8 in the same program. Sounds rather doubtful....

I have found that adding individual album folders one at a time to the Win 8 Library is the trick. Xbox music expects to see full albums. If you have lots of various artists folders you will have a mess on your hands.

I uninstalled the regular app which handles music on windows 8. And several several other apps. I use foobar for music and vlc player for other media. I still have zune, but that's just to sync music to my phone.
