Im trying to figure out what usb port i use when trying to see files

My next book 10 has two USB ports one on the right and one on the left I need to know which port to use

If they are full sized USB ports I couldn't imagine why both wouldn't read a USB flash drive or other USB device like a mouse or keyboard if it's running Windows.
