IMAP IDLE Question

Is the only thing currently limiting gmail push working naively on the WP mail client, the fact there is no IMAP IDLE support in the OS? If so, and if Microsoft decide to implement it, should we get push back? I find it hard to believe Microsoft will add support for this protocol, given how slow they are moving with everything, but one can hope.

it is a deliberate attempt by Microsoft to show ActiveSync's advantage over IMAP. IMAP push and server search are both supported on desktop Windows 8 Mail client.

They took their sweet time to add CalDav and CardDav... they could have add Imap idle. Not having push for gmail accounts is a shame. For as long as it works I will continue using EAS for my gmail account...
