Thanks to an innocuous comment in another thread, the app Fhotoroom was brought to my attention. It's... pretty much Instagram. I'm thinking that all of us WP users who want Instragram should sign up on Fhotoroom; we'll probably have a better chance of getting the Fhotoroom authors to release iOS and Android apps than we will getting the Instagram peeps to release a WP version of that app. We could turn it into another "Nokia exclusive"-like app, only WP exclusive. "Instagram? Pff, we have Fhotoroom. You don't have that? Wow, sucks to be you..." :D

I'm @iamtim on Fhotoroom, although I haven't posted anything beyond my userpic.

I'm done trying to convert people to other apps...just offer cross platform apps or die!

The love of instagram is a little funny when most people just post those pics to facebook anyway

As in the OS....the OS needs more "official" apps....or it WILL die. I love the OS, but I am not going to get friends to switch apps just to interact with me. Others won't either. Cross platform apps are critical.

For a while I used IG to post pics to FB, but then I stopped (I have a hobby my family and close friends aren't into, so I kept posting hobby pics to IG without cross-posting to FB). When I was cross-posting, posting pics using the IG app - at least on iOS - is so much quicker, easier, and slicker than using the FB app that I often used IG specifically to post pics to FB, heh.

I don't disagree. If you note in my original post, I stated that if we descend upon Fhotoroom en masse we'll probably have a better chance of them building apps for iOS and Android (making it cross-platform) than we will of Instagram building a WP app. :)

sure, but without any of your friends ;)

Instagram is dead. People who use Instagram, precisely because it isn't part of Facebook, will soon have only two choices - lump it and integrate with FB or leave it. All those leaving will need a new app to call home. Right now is a good time for a new dev/app to step up and fill the hole..hopefully it will be someone with a vision that is xplatform.
