[iPhone] Why does Windows Vista no longer recognise my phone?

Please Help! I am running windows vista and also have an iphone 5 and an ipad and usually upload my photos via windows live photo gallery. For the last couple of months it has stopped recognising my phone. When I click on "computer" it is not showing there either. Itunes is the only system that seems to recognise the phone. I have tried updating all the drivers and software, creating a new administrator profile, disabling the antivirus software, uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, checking the different usb ports. Funny thing is my old iphone 3 is still recognised but not the newer ones.... Anyone know what to do?

No idea. Could it be that iPhone slipped in an update to mess things up for newer model iPhones? They do prefer their customers to be tied to only Apple stuff wherever possible. Not accusin', just sayin'.

Also, you probably would want to slip over to iMore and ask there too, since the people over there know more about the ins-and-outs of iOS and whatnot.
