Is 920 EOL?

This is out of thin air. But my speculation is that the 920 is going EOL soon. It's basically nothing with a contract. And not too expensive off contract. Whether the att gdr2 issue is ATT or whomever, it just isn't getting attention. My bet is that the 929 is the platform for the next ATT 920 replacement. 1080p 2gbram quad core 5inch. Why not? How do we know when something has been EOL officially?

I think its knocking on the EOL door and someone inside said, "come in the door is unlocked!" It comes carrying with it all the promise of what was to come post Windows Phone Lumia 900. Lack of "timely" updates points to a diminution in importance to AT&T's bottom line and its probably time to consider newer WP's coming to the market in the next year. Because nothing at present has me as excited as did the 920, I will probably wait until the 8.1 phones arrive to decide.

The 2014 end of life date is for Windows Phone 8, not specific devices.

Actually, I'm a bit surprised Nokia hasn't announced a proper Lumia 920 successor. But then they release new phones every 3 months, so in some ways the 920 reach end of life long ago.

I didn't mean to start the thread as a panic. Even if the 920 was EOLed tomorrow, I have not doubt that it will still be supported for the remainder of it's 36month support window. I'm curious why no successor has been announced or even leaked. Isn't the pace for smartphone succession about 12-18 months? This is why I think that the Verizon 929 (if it's has the specs I think it has) is a pretty good indicator of the 930. The 925 is sort of the successor in that it now has come to ATT and really should just replace it. They are basically the same phone. All the more reason to think that the 920 is likely EOL. The 920 has been through some good transformations 920 -> 928 -> 925. Maybe one of those mystery devices Nokia will be revealing is a 930. But there would have been leaks right?

the 920 is nearly a year old, it still makes for a highly desirable phone with it's crisp screen and excellent camera - the Amber features (sorry, my ATT comrades) have added further appeal to it. I would say it holds its own against a 925 (16 GB non-expandable storage, no inbuilt wireless charging, limited colour choices, more expensive on contract) or a 928 (design not good as a 920 - *this is subjective though*, limited color choice) -- I think it'll be looking at the EOL barrel when the 1520 is launched on AT&T and the 925 drops to free on contract.

Even the Lumia 900 is still, apart from not being WP8, a good phone even though that has been EOL'ed. So as much as we make comments on phones that have been discontinued, the Lumia can still keep on.
