Is the BandWidth app poorly written/executed? Or, is it perhaps hampered by the OS in some way?
I enabled the wifi tethering on my phone and was able to get 4.75 down / 1.75 up rather consistently on an Android tablet WiFi-tethered to my phone while the phone itself was only maxing out around 2.1 down / 0.9 up.
What is going on here? Is the BandWidth app not so great? Or does WP7 not pass along data as fast to apps as it can pass thru to tethered connections? I guess one could ask if speedtest.net is inflating results, but it seems that program has probably undergone much more scrutiny over the years.
I just realized that I was probably holding the phone when testing its performance and may have been hindering the antenna. But I think it's more than that.
