If done properly, has anyone had any problems going back to 8.1 after trying the 10 preview? Is it a complicated process to get back to the exact update of 8.1 you were on before? I'm asking because I'm having some screen and OS issues with 8.1 that probably require a complete hard reset anyway so I thought it would be a great way to try 10 for a day or two. But, I'm questioning whether to bother now since so many people seem to say there are crucial bugs that affect basic performance of the phone. I need SMS/MMS, whatsapp, browser, email, calendar, Tweetium, OneNote and my camera to work flawlessly and I've heard negative feedback about most of them.

Anyway, anyone with problems going back to 8.1 then?

There can be issues, like there can be issues Restoring an iPhone, but rolling back is a very easy process and it is usually painless. I have no qualms using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool.

Thanks xandros. After my problems fixing my Dell Venue 8 Pro, I'm scared silly. :winktongue:
Are you running the 10 mobile preview? Any thoughts?

ive flashed my 925 back to 8.1 a few times. each time it works fine and restores a backup from before the win10 update.

Oh, hadn't even thought about that... So if I start from scratch with Windows 10 Preview, I assume I'll have to set everything up however I want it because the Windows 8 backup probably won't be recognised right? And then if I go BACK to 8.1, it'll THEN use my backup?

sorry, I worded that badly.

ive had to flash back to 8.1 a few times as the win10 TP wasn't reliable enough for every day use. As I did a backup each time BEFORE upgrading to win10. I could restore the phone back to where it was on 8.1. after flashing back to 8.1.

when you re-flash back to 8.1, there is an option when you set it up to restore from a backup. I select the one that has 8.1 in it. the windows 10 backups don't appear to call themselves 'windows 10' or anything I can identify. the dates, however, are very helpful.

Are you running 10 preview now on your 925? Seems to be one of the phones where half the people say it's great and the other half say it's awful. What are your major issues?

major issue was battery life. 15-18 hours. maybe.

the slowness I can handle, its a TP, I don't have high expectations for a product not officially released.

ive literally just finished putting 8.1 back on as its going OS with my wife next week and it needs to be reliable. and act the same as her 1020.

15-18 hours?! That would be an improvement for me. I get 15 if I'm lucky.

There might be an issue with the usb driver for series 5xx and 6xx.
If you encounter a fail on reinstalling 8.1, try to uninstall the usb driver of the phone in Device manager and then let the recovery tool reinstall the driver.
Other than that I have no problem on my 520.
