Is MS ditching the camera button?

I've seen some leaks of the 1330 and I don't think it has a camera button. AFAIK all MS branded Lumias that came out already has no more camera button. I will never get another Lumia if they remove this dedicated shutter button altogether on their upcoming Lumias. Nokia has been well known for having this especially on their camera-focused phones and just about almost all their phones

No, its been established cheaper devices won't have the button yet fancier ones will.

All MS devices so far are low-end ones.

Lumia Unknown.jpg I think that's a Pureview device, a 'fancy' one, too. It's been posted everywhere during the win10 announcement. I don't think that's a camera button anymore on the lower right, just the power button and the volume rockers

I really hope there's the physical camera button... It'll be weird to take photos without pushing down on a button to me at least

Sheesh, it would take the lack of a camera button to never buy a Lumia? What other phones have dedicated camera buttons? Hardly any, so that makes no sense to not buy a phone because it doesn't have a certain feature when the competition doesn't either. That implies that the camera button is the only thing that keeps you on a Lumia, that's a little extreme, but you shouldn't have anything to worry about regardless.

The 1330 will be a lower end phone...a successor to the 1320. Low end phones don't have a camera button, but the higher end ones do. As someone pointed out, it's a PureView thing. The 435, 535, 635, and 735 do not have it as they do not have PureViews

it's a personal preference, that is actually shared by millions of users coming from Nokia phones and earlier Nokia Lumia phones. I'm thinking now you didn't come from N8 or even the 808, this last one has a camera button that launches the camera when phone is off just making a long press and that is an absolute convenience. and it was carried on to the first windows 8 phones, too(the 920 and the 820), not really sure about win 7 phones.
But just as you can see from the photo above, that is surely a high end Lumia and apparently doesn't have a camera button anymore. Maybe you're not as camera-centric as almost everyone else that owns a Nokia or a Lumia where camera is top notch that means a camera button is just way too important. imagine a compact camera with no shutter and u can tap on the screen yeah, but that's just odd. Nokia has been well known as the imaging powerhouse of the smartphones, you must know that. and a software or hardware disregard for something that important is a major blunder

Trust me, I'm more camera centric than most. And you're confusing everybody in this thread, including yourself. You first start talking about the Lumia 1330, which is obviously a lower end phone, and then you bring up just some random mock up that was shown I believe in the Windows 10 launch that means absolutely nothing and that is no indication of actual hardware and say that the camera button is doomed.

And like I said before, even if Microsoft ditches the camera button, (which I hope they don't, I'm in the same boat as you; I enjoy it very much) your argument of leaving Lumia just because of a lack of a camera button makes no sense.

I don't think that's any more than a phone graphic.
Buttons are weird too.

I agree, just a mock up for demonstrational purposes. And the buttons are weird. A "lock button" at nearly the bottom of the device. And from the looks of it, there's no camera (maybe?) and no ambient light sensor which would be obvious staples on a flagship. Lastly, there's no Microsoft branding. Point is, I don't think a mock up/graphic is anything to make any judgments or speculations over

that photo has been all over the internet since the win10 launch and im sure MS didnt just made a mock up with that. i'm betting a lot of dough that will be the new standard for the new high end lumias, of course it would seem like i'm speculating but it's not a leak, it came from MS itself. now i'm gonna back scrounging the net for those 1330 leaks coz definitely that would b announced at mwc. for me, that photo is what 1030 gonna look like and with those new weird placed buttons. 1030 is my bet to b announced as the next flagship, coz there has been leaks of it, the mclaren, even from last year. they remove the camera button on that cam phone, they're done for

And saying that it came from Microsoft itself means nothing especially considering that they used it just as a tool for demonstration. Companies use things like that all the time. It's just a place holder hardware mockup to show off the software...which is what they were actually focusing on 100% at that event.
