Is the Lumia 2520 going to get the Windows 10 upgrade

If we don't get a Windows 10 upgrade, what will Microsoft do to appease our unrest

It's not certain as they just mentioned the Surface RT and 2, and they aren't getting a "true" Windows 10 upgrade from the wording. What will Microsoft do to appease your unrest? Well, the upgrade of "Windows 10 features" to RT devices like the Surface RT and 2 is an appeasement. If it doesn't come to the 2520, then there will be no appeasement as the appeasement was just for Surface models.

Microsoft just wants to (and probably should) just completely put RT behind them because that's clearly not the way they are going. Full Windows tablets are taking their place, and since RT never got a very big user base, it doesn't really make a lot of sense to go with a full on update of it.

This is sort of similar to BlackBerry with the PlayBook and their final decision to not update it to BB10. The only difference is that BlackBerry promised that it would and then broke that. Microsoft isn't making any promises they can't keep here which is smart.

I don't really get it. Windows 10 on the ARM devices could be the best OS of all. Why? Because of the "One Store".
All Windows Phone apps are of course made for ARM. With "One Store" they could / would run without ANY optimization, because the Surface RT / Surface 2 / Lumia 2520 are completely compatible. You could run a lot of apps which aren't available for Windows 8 right now because those are Phone apps only.

Windows 10 won't make those apps magically appear on INTEL devices either. Developers have to adapt to the universal app model before they can release them on INTEL devices.

Of course those phone apps wouldn't be "optimal" to use, because they still are phone apps, but it would be a great advantage to have them.

Well said sir! There was a C/NET article (I think C/NET) that clarified the Windows RT (almost 10) update will include other RT devices such as the Dell, Lenovo, and the Nokia as well. I still hope they change their minds and build Windows 10 Phone O/S for ARM tablets but I am fine either way for my Surface 2. Nothing says they even have to build an update for RT but I am glad they are.

That said, Apple is rumored to be building ARM MAC Books. I always thought WOA was ahead of its time so If it were my decision, I would give RT one more chance for 10. The biggest challenge for RT IMHO was the confusion with big Windows. I would call it Windows 10 lite.

The whole mess with RT was two fold, 1) the average joe could not distinguish the difference between full blow windows and rt as the UX was the same 2) OEM's only pushed out a handful of RT tablets and then moved into putting full blown windows on their tablets after all the run time was still same with the added benefit of legacy applications.

It is sad that RT Tablets have been left in the dust as it is an amazing tablet O/S and perfect for kids and novices. Zero chances of getting the swarm of toolbars and malware.

Never the less I will be picking up the Surface 2 LTE on ebay sometime in the future as a general consumption device.

If that is true, then it may very well kick start the ARM movement on tablets... unfortunate as it is Apple is the one kicks off a trend simply because 95% of the tech-blog-sphere are Apple fans.
