Is there a way to make 3G and battery info on home screen as well as lock screen?

New to windows 8 and still trying to figure a few things out

There is a nice app called "Battery level for WP8" which puts the battery indicator and % on the lock screen. It also can act as a live tile which shows the same on the home screen.

No way to do it using the standard stuff on the phone though.
