Is TP2 worth buying as of today

I am a Sprint customer and have had almost every smart phone made. My current phone is the Pre and in the past I have had the Mogul, Diamond, BB Curve, Treo 650, and Treo 600. For my taste of Android I own the Archos A5A internet tablet.

I like my pre but find it slightly annoying that web browsing is better in landscape mode but the keyboard requires portrait. Also, there a few other little annoyances I have with it. One thing I am looking for is a bigger screen.

Ever since the TP2 was released I have considered it. One thing that has held me back was that it is internally the same hardware as the Diamond, which I hated mainly due to the small screen and poor software keyboard.

So my question is is it worth it to but the TP2 today. Is the hardware portion, mainly the processor antiquated. I know that the snapdragon is on the horizon, well and out there if you are not a sprint customer.

Do people that own the TP2 find it laggy? For reference I find the Pre to be laggy at times. Will the hardware adequately support WM 6.5?

Absolutely...I love it and believe it is the best phone out there, but not with the shipped rom.

I have been flashing mine with chef roms from mightyrom, cfay, Juicy, energy and now Silence...and the one thing that they all have in common is that they are better than stock. Better battery life, more functionality and more battery life.

When I first got the phone, I was not impressed because it was laggy and the battery life was no better than my previous smartphones so I just accepted it as normal.

The one complaint I have with the phone is the bt stack which does not allow MVC to announce caller ID over bt which is why I originally started flashing new roms...and unfortunately, I still don't have that function, but I have gained so much more with the cooked roms that I now enjoy my phone.

The above statement from bigant is exactly what's wrong with the general public not loving winmo phones. I use nfsfan's custom 6.5 rom on a three year old phone and love it, but the average person running standard verizon 6.0 on a three year old touch probably hates it. There has to be a better way to give people options for flexibility and upgrades and make it standard so people are not afraid to flash and customize with third party solutions because then they won't be supported by the manufacturer.
