Isn't this our Glance screen?

nokia's been using that kind of "glance screens" before they even made a single windows phone
 
It's amazing the level of maturity of the comment section in that webpage. Android and Apple fanboys going back & forth is hilarious. And some say that Windows phone users are immature.........
 
The idea isn't new.

Nokia used it in their Symbian devices.
Palm had similar functionality on the Windows Mobile 6 Treo Pro.
Samsung had that smart window thing.

webOS and Android got a feature called Exhibition and Daydream respectively for when the device is docked and it isn't a stretch to make it work on the go.
