Issue with charger

I travel for work so I carry a charger for my surface pro in my backpack. I've already gone through 3 chargers because the wire inside right where it enters the converter breaks and it no longer chargers. These charger are expensive and replacing them is costing me a lot of money.

Does anyone know of a more robust charging unit or a way to prevent this wire from breaking? I've tried extra electrical tape around the base, but that didn't stay.

Be more careful with your charger, the best solution for you and your wallet

I would go ham with electrical tape. everywhere, maybe five layers slowly tapering off as you get farther from the converter.

Or frankly, I'd consider a different device if that doesn't help either. I don't care too much for my old 90W power brick + cable for my ThinkPad T400 and now T430 and they've been quite the trooper.
