issues with contacts and texting

Hey everyone,
I am new to this community and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I have an htc 8x and I am having issues with the contact list that is available on messaging. All of my contacts that have been synced from google are in my contacts via the call app,however when I try and send a message to a contact via messages some of my contacts do not come up. This makes me have to go back into my phone contacts find the persons name pull it down and click send text message. Is there any way to resolve the issue in the messages app so that all of my contacts will show up when I type in their name?

Are the phone numbers in the contacts? If I have a contact that doesn't have a phone number associated to it, either in contact or facebook, they don't show up when I type the name in messages.
