Pocketpair, creators of Palworld, have today issued a statement in response to Nintendo filing a lawsuit for patent infringement. The statement states that Pocket Pair regrets the significant time they will need to allocate to this rather than developing the game.

I honestly believe this is a terrible look for Nintendo, specially since if they win they'll not only come out as bullies but it will set a horrible precedent for game developers in regards to creative freedom due to big companies owning every game mechanic under the sun. And they are doing this to a company that's not even competing against them in their main games market, this is absurd. I would understand it if it was copyright but patent infringement in a game mechanic sounds and looks ridiculous. I hope they lose but.. again, it's Nintendo. They never lose .
