Just got the SP4, 256 GP, i5 Device. - Is it worth thinking about getting the i7 ?

I want a Tablet / Laptop, but primarily a tablet (Lightweight compact device) that i can take with me on travel. When on travel i like to play shooter games and i'am particularly looking Forward to playing Star Wars BattleFront and HALO on my Surface. Will i see a significant difference in Graphics and Performance of my Surface by paying the $200+ dollars to get the i7. I would also welcome any recommendations of lightweight laptops with a similar footprint (Dimensions and Weight) i should consider taking a look at - Thanks in advance!!!

The i7 does see a significant improvement in graphics and processing performance but it depends on what you're going to use it for. If you want something to do some gaming with the Surface Book is a better bet with a dedicated GPU. It's more expensive but more powerful. If you want something for serious gaming you're not going to find it at the ultra-thin laptop level. You'll have to turn to true gaming laptops. The Surface Pro 4 can do some light gaming and can stream from an Xbox One just fine (the i7 and more RAM should help with that) but won't do anything heavy.

Great stuff ttsoldier. It is likely i would be playing a game like Crysis to - which Josher14 actually demoed. I guess what i want to know is - Whether the i7 is gonna take the frame rate from 30 FPS to 35 FPS - or is it likely going to really move the needle to like 45-50 FPS and if the latter scenario is true should i go for the i7?

It it's gaming performance you're looking for. Get the i7. It has a iris 540 while the i5 has the 520.

However, if you're really looking at GAMING, get the surface book. The surface pro 4 is not for games like Crysis (in my opinion) . I mean sure, it will run... But how will it look?? If you have no problem compromising the graphics quality for high fps AND can't justify the price difference between the SP4 and SB, then get the i7.

Also, this is a good read.

Hope this helps.
